We promote self-directed services that allow individuals to define their own goals.
We strongly advocate for individual choice and independence, offering a range of options and encouraging individuals to make their own decisions, even when it involves taking risks. Individuals chart their own path, and staff are here to assist without judgment. At Empower, we’re committed to helping individuals exercise their freedom, learn from experiences, and grow from their mistakes.
Service Types Include:
A Case Coordinator is a bachelor’s or master’s level social worker who visits with the individual weekly in their home. Case Coordinators can work with individuals on many issues, including medical management, housing challenges, financial management, transportation resources, and others. In addition, Case Coordinators can be assigned as surrogates for the MassHealth PCA program helping individuals recruit, hire, and train PCAs.
A Direct Service Professional (DSP) is a worker with caregiving experience hired to be with an individual for several hours each day or week. Direct Service Professionals can assist individuals with attending medical appointments or providing needed oversight. For individuals without a PCA program, Direct Service Professionals can assist with bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
Individual Aides (IA) are expereinced caregivers tasked with planning and executing community outings with an individual. They may also be assigned to help support other specific goals as requested by the funder.
