Department of Developmental Services Supports
Services funded by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and delivered by Empower are dedicated to ensuring that adults with cognitive and physical disabilities overcome barriers to independent living.
We believe our individuals deserve a high-quality living experience that allows them to choose where, how and with whom they live.
We provide support and supervision that ensure safety while fostering deep personal connections that promote well-being and successful outcomes for our individuals. This service offers the individual the tools needed to maintain a living arrangement, either in the family home or living independently. Supports are provided for less than 24 hours per day and are not available for individuals living in a residential facility or group home. Individuals must be referred to Empower by their DDS Service Coordinator. Individuals who have services through DDS and are interested in learning more about Empower should contact us for more information. Services range from as little as 1-2 hours a week or as many hours as are needed and approved by the funder to support the individual.
The DDS Supervisor may act as a PCA surrogate for those individuals in Individualized Home Supports who are also using a MassHealth-funded PCA program.

Direct Service Professionals (DSPs) are experienced caregivers who are scheduled to work 1:1 with the individuals. DSPs can assist individuals with personal finance, health, medical appointments, shopping, meal preparation, community resources, community safety, and other social and adaptive skills needed to live in the community.
